BELBAL’s Michael Gjereks’ love of balloons is pretty evident in his art display called “Installations 2010 – 2011”, which is a survey of 19 landscape photographs of latex balloons.
Taken by the artist over a one year-year period the exhibition deals with balloons in artificial environments. From regular forms to bizarre cuts, Michael describes Installations 2010 – 2011 as: “A nicely installed, unique collection of captivating images offering a fascinating look into the relationships between artificial environments and the exploration of more abstract forms.”
This certainly seems to ring true as when viewing the work you have to do a double take and ask yourself ‘Is that a frog on a balloon?’ or even ‘Is that a balloon?’
All photographs were recently exhibited for the first time at the 12th Moscow Balloon Festival at the end of September this year, which was a very momentous occasion for Michael.
