Christmas trading outcome for large retailers

Tesco’s recently revealed its Christmas sales performance, which showed a decline in sales of 2.3%

Other top British retailers have also posted lacklustre results, including Argos, over the festive period.  

These poor results came despite heavy discounting in the run up to Christmas.

Online shopping, however, is helping some retailers break records with John Lewis, Debenhams and Marks and Spencer reporting substantial increases in their online sales.
